Superb pair of armchairs, called cabriolets, with violin backrest.
The high crosspieces are stepped and carved with deep floral motifs with curves and counter-curves.
Wide and deep seat with fretted crosspieces, curved and sculpted on the front. It rests on curved legs, sculpted with flowers and finished with windings.
The upholstered arms rest on whiplash consoles.
Pierre Nogaret (1718-1771) used, for the fittings of backrests and crosspieces, staples carved with volutes and leaves, which contributes to the movement of the lines.
We find the typical details of the high quality of its production: the feet, the front crosspieces, as well as the differences in the sculptures of the flowers of the backrests.
Very good quality walnut, small grafts from use.
The two seats are stamped NOGARET A LYON.
