Great solid silver cruet, nave shaped and set on an oblong base, decorated with greek figures.
The top handle, on a column, represents a foliated vase from which emerge fruits. The twisted side handles end with two swans heads.
The glass receptacles are three pillasters shaped, separated by perforated fan-shaped decorations.
Applies on each side of the body are a Mercury head surmounted by two swans heads, with on one side the initials summed by a marquis crown.
Silver hallmark : rooster, Paris first title, with the different A for year V (1796).
Silversmith hallmark : M J with thyrse, Marc Jacquait, Paris 1798-1809.
Marc Jacquait, silversmith in Paris, Hotel d'Aligre, Rue Saint Honoré. In service from 1797. Specialty of this manufacturer: the big table silver.
