Beautiful writing set, in gilded and lacquered bronze which is quite rare.
The base is lacquered in dark green. It supports two notched penholders at the front and two gilt bronze inkstands at the back.
The inkwells have gadrooned and molded bases. Three winged caryatids in a sheath are attached to it. They are joined at the top by a beaded and gadrooned molding which holds two cut crystal buckets.
The gilding is original and there is a good quality of carving. Slight wear on the lacquered base.
Empire period work.
